Comedian Jon Stewart gave a scathing response to President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party for ‘hypocritically’ pardoning Hunter Biden.
In Monday’s daily programStewart noted that hypocrisy is not “particularly unusual in politics” and began by focusing on Biden’s decision to pardon his son.
After Biden’s repeated assurances that he would not intervene in his son’s legal problems, he announced Hunter Biden’s “full and unconditional” pardon on Sunday.
Hunter Biden had been found guilty by a jury in June of two counts of lying on a federal form to purchase a gun and one count of possessing the firearm while abusing drugs.
Stewart said: “It’s not like I’m going to run again, so why not take care of your son?” Even if you said you wouldn’t do it, I respect that. I don’t have any problem with that.’
“The problem is that the rest of the Democrats made Biden’s promise not to pardon Hunter the basis of their defense of America in this great experiment,” Stewart said, then played a montage of clips of Democrats echoing of Biden’s promise and using it as evidence of his party’s commitment to a fair justice system.
‘One political party remains committed to the rule of law and the other does not. It’s that simple,” said Massachusetts Rep. Jim McGovern.
‘Hunter Biden is not above the law, no one is above the law. Democrats defend the rule of law,” said another.
On Monday’s Daily Show, Stewart pointed out the Democratic Party’s hypocrisy over President Joe Biden’s pardon of his son, Hunter, after the party made him a shining example of its defense of the justice system.
President Biden announced his son’s “full and unconditional” pardon on Sunday, the weekend after Thanksgiving.
“Because the justice system that convicted his only surviving son is the same justice system that he pledged to protect, and if that doesn’t tell you who Joe Biden is, I don’t really know what does,” the MSNBC host said. , Jen Psaki.
Stewart chuckled and said, “And now look at the dance the Democrats have to do.”
He then played clips of more Democrats struggling to justify Biden’s decision after stating he would not get involved.
“People need to remember that the president has already lost two sons and doesn’t need to lose another one in a political witch hunt,” one said.
“To be honest, the only reason they went after Hunter the way they did is because he’s the president’s son,” another said.
Stewart went on to discuss how the Democratic Party has used the same tactics and behaved similarly to its opponents, while asserting moral authority over Republicans.
Stewart jokes about the moment of decision with a prop gun on the table next to a Thanksgiving meal and impersonates Hunter Biden at the Christmas dinner table.
“You know, last Thanksgiving with the family for a while, if someone could change that… This turkey is delicious, obviously not one of the ones that were spared,” he joked.
Stewart played clips of Democrats claiming Hunter Biden’s case was an example of “no one is above the law” before Biden announced his pardon.
“Rules, loopholes and norms — the distance between the systems Democrats say they worship and the one they use when they need to is why people think it’s rigged,” Stewart said.
He went on to acknowledge that while it is a difficult path, the party has been making things more difficult for itself.
“At every turn, Democrats continue to get caught creating a purity test for a system they themselves can’t seem to pass,” Stewart said.
Stewart went on to cite examples where Biden had morally criticized President-elect Donald Trump, but found himself involved in similar situations.
These included the mishandling of classified documents, the dispute with Saudi Arabia over a murdered American journalist and the mockery of Biden’s fist bump with the country’s leader, and the current crisis at the border.
He continued to attack the political party, adding: “Rules, loopholes and norms – the distance between the systems Democrats claim to revere and the one they use when they need it is why people think it’s rigged.”
‘Use the rules. Use loopholes. Fuck the rules. But also use it to help people, not just those people who are related to you. “All of us are someone’s son or daughter and we all need that break too.”
