The Jets have sensationally interviewed ESPN broadcaster and former NFL star Louis Riddick

The New York Jets have sensationally interviewed ESPN broadcaster and former NFL star Louis Riddick about their vacant general manager role.

Joe Douglas was fired in November, midway through another miserable campaign for Aaron Rodgers and Co.

Owner Woody Johnson is leading the search for his replacement and on Thursday New York announced they had spoken to Riddick about the role.

The 55-year-old, a former safety who spent seven seasons in the NFL, currently works as an analyst covering the NFL and college football.

The Jets also have ex-Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff and former Titans GM Jon Robinson.

As a player, Riddick was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the 1991 NFL draft. He went on to play for the Falcons, Browns and Raiders.

Since hanging up his cleats, Riddick has gained experience in the front office of NFL teams.

He started as a pro scout with the Washington Commanders in 2001 before being promoted to director of pro personnel a few years later.

Riddick joined the Philadelphia Eagles as a scout in 2008 and later served as assistant director of pro personnel and director of pro personnel.

He joined ESPN in 2013, but was interviewed for general manager roles for both the Lions and Texans in 2020.

The New York Jets are 4-12 heading into this weekend’s season finale against the Miami Dolphins.

Johnson is also looking for a new head coach after Robert Saleh was fired earlier this season. Jeff Ulbrich serves as interim head coach, while Phil Savage is interim general manager.
