A JetBlue Airways flight from Newark to Orlando was forced to make an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday evening.

Crew aboard JetBlue flight 227 reported smoke in the cockpit of the Airbus A320 aircraft just minutes after take-off at Newark and declared an emergency to air traffic control.

The flight was on its way to Orlando International Airport, but the plane landed at JFK shortly after 7:30 PM last night.

In a statement, a JetBlue spokesperson told DailyMail.com that the crew noticed an electrical odor in the cockpit in addition to the smoke.

Passengers on board the aircraft were transferred to another aircraft and proceeded to Orlando.
