It is feasible and appropriate for cutting-edge AI companies to test whether more powerful AI models can cause serious harm, and for these companies to implement reasonable safeguards against such risks,” the letter added.

“SB 1047 would implement the safeguards that industry experts have called for. The bill passed overwhelmingly in the California State Senate and Assembly,” the letter continues.
