Jay Z’s lawyer Alex Spiro has insisted the rapper “knows nothing” about the charges or accusations against Sean “Diddy” Combs and claimed the multi-millionaire musicians shared no “closer association” than professional friends.

Last week, the 55-year-old rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was named in a civil lawsuit accusing him of raping a 13-year-old girl with Combs in 2000 after she MTV Music Video Awards.

The Empire State Of Mind rapper has since condemned and vehemently denied the allegations while criticizing her lawyer Tony Buzbee for the alleged “blackmail attempt.”

Speaking at Roc Nation headquarters in New York on Monday, Carter’s lawyer took pains to make clear that his client was not connected to the sex trafficking and extortion charges for which Combs will be tried.

‘Mister. “Carter has nothing to do with Mr. Combs’ case or Mr. Combs,” Quinn attorney Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP began. “They had known each other professionally for several years, as in all professions, people know each other.”

He continued: ‘At the Music Awards, they support each other. If you go to the NBA All Star game, they support each other. That’s how professions work.’

Spiro added: “There is no closer association between any of them, that is also a matter of fiction.” That’s all there is.

“He doesn’t know anything about the charges or accusations against him. It has nothing to do with that case. And there’s nothing more to say.

The accuser, who is identified as Jane Doe in legal documents reviewed by Dailymail.commade headlines with her claim that the assault took place at a party after the awards ceremony.

According to legal documents, in the 2000 incident, “another celebrity stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns assaulting the minor.”

The 38-year-old woman, who until now remains anonymous, sat down with NBC News on Friday, where he acknowledged several inconsistencies in the lawsuit that was initially filed a few months earlier in October.

Regarding remembering the night the supposed ‘catastrophic event’ occurred, he told the media outlet that he ‘made some mistakes.’

Some of the inconsistencies include Jane Doe claiming that her father came to pick her up after the alleged rape took place. However, he has since claimed that he does not remember doing so.

He also claimed to have spoken to Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden; However, the band has since said that he was not in New York that night because the band was on tour in the Midwest at the time.

Carter’s lawyers have since asked that the case be dismissed or that Jane Doe’s real name be publicly revealed in new motions filed in federal court.

Speaking to DailyMail.com and other news outlets on Monday, Spiro claimed that the case is “probably false” and proceeded to provide evidence that he claimed proved that Jane Doe’s allegations “never happened.”

He first highlighted the “large white residence with a U-shaped gated driveway” to which Jane Doe was allegedly driven during a 20-minute drive from Radio City Music Hall.

“There is no such place,” Spiro noted. “We don’t know if they created a location to try to get jurisdiction in New York so they could file this case in New York or they just didn’t do their homework.”

He also stated that the homes owned by Combs at the time of the alleged assault did not match the description shared by Jane Doe.

Spiro then pointed out the fact that footage of Combs and Carter from the night of the alleged assault has placed the couple at official industry parties, which took place at commercial locations.

The attorney also noted that Jane Doe claimed to have watched the awards show from a jumbotron outside Radio City, however it has since been confirmed that there was no jumbotron at that year’s show.

He accused Texas attorney Anthony Buzbee of taking advantage of the accuser and stated: ‘This is not about truth and justice. This is about money.’

Spiro confirmed that he expected Carter to be “cleared” and noted that “Buzbee will be taken care of.”

He explained: ‘This issue of a lawyer taking advantage of the situation is going to be addressed, I can assure you… stay tuned. I think the first thing we did today was make sure everyone understood that this is not an explanation of inconsistencies.

‘I wanted everyone to understand that this never happened. This is completely false. And then we’ll move forward from there.”

Speaking about how Carter was feeling following the shocking allegations, Spiro said of the rapper: “He’s upset. He’s upset that someone is allowed to do this, to make a mockery of a system like this. He’s upset that this is distracting and deterring real victims to come forward.

“He’s upset that his kids and his family have to deal with this. He’s upset and he should be upset.

Carter is the father of daughter Blue Ivy, 12, and twins Rumi and Sir, seven, with wife Beyoncé.
