Jackass row rocks Sydney's ritzy Double Bay - as furious local leaves a VERY rude message on parked car's windscreen
  • Resident pleads with local motorist to stop parking ‘like an idiot’
  • It follows the incident where the vehicle was parked on the other side of the driveway

A row has broken out over an ‘imbecilic’ parking maneuver in one of the country’s most upmarket neighbourhoods, with one outraged local recording an angry message on a driver’s car.

The furious explosion was written in large letters on two strips of duct tape and taped to the vehicle’s windshield in a vitriolic rage over where the white Honda Civic was parked.

The explosion broke out after the local estimated the driver had taken up enough space for two cars along William St in Sydney’s upscale Double Bay on Tuesday afternoon.

In a final vent of frustration, the car’s windshield wipers were also yanked up.

One of the notes begged the driver to “please don’t park like an idiot,” while the other noted that the vehicle actually took up “two-car parking.”

It appears to have been caused by the Honda sedan being parked too far from the nearest entrance, reducing the available parking spaces between the entrances to just one instead of two.

The dispute unfolded in one of the quieter sections of a famous suburb in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, far from local luxury shops and generally only used by residents.

The incident could lead to an awkward encounter between neighbors as a Double Bay resident’s parking permit on the car’s windscreen indicated the driver likely lives nearby.

It comes after a fierce debate broke out earlier this year over a careless driver who parked too close to a suburban road and blocked cars from entering and exiting.

A woman visiting her relative’s home in Newcastle, New South Wales, in May was forced to move her 4×4 across the front yard.

The visitor slowly maneuvered her 4×4 vehicle across the narrow yard, prompting a neighbor who was watching to leave a handwritten note under the windshield wipers of the parked car.

Wanting to let the car owner know the inconvenience they had caused, the passer-by did not hold back.

‘Please don’t park in the driveway next time you visit! ‘It’s just rude!’ the note said.

Drivers joked online that they wouldn’t have left a “nice” note.

“It’s a fucking joke,” one wrote.

Despite the obvious inconvenience of being trapped when a person parks in a driveway, it can also prevent people from receiving emergency care by blocking ambulance access.

It is also considered a safety risk for pedestrians who may have difficulty accessing a property, and can also limit visibility for road users to see who is using the footpath.

In New South Wales, it is illegal for motorists to stop in a driveway unless they are picking up or dropping off passengers.

The driver must remain in the vehicle and continue within two minutes.

Under state law, motorists who park on a driveway face a $302 fine for the offence, while Queenslanders can be fined $309.

For safety reasons, it is also illegal to park in front of your own driveway.

In 2016, a Sydney man who lived opposite a school was fined after he parked in front of its driveway to avoid other cars blocking his path during school pick-up and drop-off times.
