Australian Olympic surfer Jack Robinson was rushed to the hospital by ambulance after sustaining an injury just days before his event.

Robinson, considered one of Australia’s top contenders to win the gold medal, was left bleeding after suffering a foot injury after falling off a wave at Teahupo’o in Tahiti and cutting himself on the reef.

The 26-year-old received medical attention while in the water before being removed from the surf zone.

Robinson was later helped to the beach and taken by ambulance to a medical center.
