Police are getting closer to identifying who made a death threat against former Strictly Come Dancing star Amanda Abbington, Mail Online has learned.
Metropolitan Police detectives were alerted on Friday afternoon to an email sent to the London theatre where the actress is performing in a new play.
He warned her that she “should be prepared to die on stage” unless she withdraws her complaint about her ex-partner Giovanni Pernice, which is now the subject of a BBC investigation.
The theatre alerted police and a source close to the investigation said police are taking the threat “very seriously” and are working hard to identify who sent it.
Amanda, who stars in When It Happens To You at the Park Theatre in Finsbury, north London, has been interviewed twice by police.

Amanda has been the target of a number of complaints after raising a series of grievances about her former Strictly Come Dancing partner Giovanni Pernice (pictured together on the show).
The source explained: ‘Specialist officers have been examining the email closely for the past 72 hours and now believe they are close to identifying where it was sent from.
‘They are in contact with another force to resolve this problem. They hope that this, in turn, will lead them to the person behind the threat.
Officers have told Amanda they will do everything they can to find out who the person behind the email is.
“They are treating this as a very serious and very credible threat and they want to expose the person behind this.”
Our story comes a day after the director behind the new show Amanda stars in said he has no plans to step away.
Jez Bond said he would instead bravely continue to show up, despite receiving the chilling death threat.
Artistic director Jez told the Mirror: “Amanda is determined to carry on. She was obviously shocked and upset but she won’t be bullied into walking off the show. She’s incredibly brave and won’t be beaten.”
The death threat comes after an interview in which Amanda admitted she was worried about using public transport.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour programme on Friday, she said she had stepped back from social media after receiving “incredibly toxic and relentless” online abuse from Strictly fans.
She previously claimed this included death and rape threats against her and her family.
She said: ‘When I’m on the train and stuff, I sometimes feel exposed and vulnerable, I do, because of the nature of the threats I was getting. You feel like you’re public enemy number one for saying ‘I’m not completely happy with this.’
A spokesperson for Amanda said: “We can confirm she is assisting the police with their enquiries. Amanda is very grateful to the Park Theatre for dealing with this so quickly and professionally.”
