An influencer has revealed a ‘trick’ that she claims will allow her to get ‘better matches’ on popular dating app Hinge.

Iman, from the south of England, has thousands of followers on TikTok, where she often shares snippets of her love life.

she went up a clip and claimed it had found a way to ensure people get the “best of the bunch” on Hinge, which is available in the UK, Canada, India and Australia.

The content creator said the advice meant the people she is now receiving are at a “higher level” than the profiles she would normally see.

Iman told her followers to go to the settings tab and scroll down until they see the “delete or pause account” tab.

The app will then ask why the user is leaving and give them four options to choose from.

These include “I met someone,” “I need a break from dating apps,” or “I’m not happy with my experience with Hinge.”

Iman says you should choose the one that says “I’m not happy with my experience with Hinge” for the trick to work.

Then he said a pop-up will appear saying, “How about a new beginning?” The app then goes on to say that it will refresh your feed keeping existing matches.

Iman said to go ahead and click “try it” and give it a few minutes for the Hinge algorithm to reset.

“The type of people you see are completely different and, in my experience, they have been better,” he said.

‘Actually you can do it more than once, I did it twice in a row and it’s like a different hinge.

‘Have I met anyone there? No. But getting around is more fun.

Some users thanked Iman for her advice, as they reported getting better feeds once they followed her instructions.

One commented: ‘Yes, I’ve just done this and I’ve got loads of new people now living nearby and not in the East Midlands which was where they were all from previously.’

Another said: ‘Yes it worked! Much better matches. Thank you.’

A third wrote: ‘You are a genius! I tried it, it totally works!’

However, it seems like this method doesn’t work for everyone, as others said the option didn’t come up for them.

A fourth commented: ‘Mine didn’t show me any of those options!!!’

A fifth chimed in and said: ‘Mine doesn’t it just say it’s pausing my account?’

Hinge was created by Justin McLeod in 2012, who got the idea for the dating app when the “love of my life” dumped him after college.

His childhood sweetheart decided to give him another chance, so Justin rebuilt Hinge from the ground up.

The company reports that they help set a date every two seconds.

Hinge has been contacted for comment.
