A woman received the world’s first injectable breast implant procedure, taking her from a small B cup to a C in 15 minutes.
Erin Alexander and plastic surgeon Dr Adrian Richards, of iQonic Aesthetics, London, who is one of the first doctors in the UK to offer the procedure, joined Josie Gibson and Rylan Clark on This Morning on Tuesday.
The mother, who had undergone the procedure 13 days earlier, said she was able to go for a walk the next day and resumed light exercise a few days later.
She said: ‘The downtime is pretty minimal. I went from a small B to a C or D, they’re obviously still settling so I’m not too sure about the size yet, but I’m definitely seeing a fullness that I’ve never had before.’
Demonstrating how it’s done, Dr Richards said: ‘Now Erin would be completely numb, I would make a small incision just behind her pectoral, and then we would make a small tunnel, and the next step would be to inflate the balloon.

“Then we leave it for a bit so everything can relax around it, then we deflate it, take it out and then the implant, which is diamond-shaped, is there. This is the first injectable implant ever made and the UK is a leader in this field.”
Traditional breast implant surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia and the operation involves making an incision under the breast to place the implant, either between the breast tissue and the chest muscle.
Full recovery from traditional surgery, where patients are advised to take two weeks off work, can take a few weeks and scarring remains under the breasts.
Erin said the thought of scarring deterred her from pursuing traditional breast implants.
She said: ‘I never wanted to feel like I had something done to me, scarring was a huge inconvenience for me, the recovery time, and then when I found out about Mia (minimally invasive augmentation), the minimal recovery time and no scarring of the breast tissue at all, it ticked all those boxes.’

Erin added: ‘I didn’t want to look unnatural, I still wanted to look like me and just give myself the body I always wanted, I was always quite petite and never felt like I was in proportion and now I have the boobs I always wanted.’

Talking about how easy the procedure was, Erin revealed that the entire process took about 45 minutes and that she “chatted” throughout the entire process.
She said: ‘During the procedure itself, I was awake and chatting the whole time – it took no more than 15 minutes to get it in.’
Dr. Richards said the downside to the procedure is that it can only be increased by a size or two because the implants are so small and the cost is similar to traditional implants.
