However, despite starring in the fan-favourite Christmas movie, the Irish actress, 79, admitted she ended up alone and penniless.
The star, who has had an illustrious acting career and even won Best Supporting Actress for her role in 1989’s My Left Foot, previously admitted that she had attempted suicide 32 times amid her battle with depression.
Brenda has also been frank about herself. financial problems as she explained: ‘I lived off my savings while they lasted, but now I’m completely broke.
“But as long as I have a roof over my head and I feed the dog and I feed myself, I’m perfectly content.”
The actress previously appeared on The Tommy Tiernan Show, where she discussed her career and life outside of the spotlight.

He continued: “Just yesterday I visited the doctor and he said, ‘We’re going to prescribe you stronger antidepressants.’ I’m kind of a recluse. Choosing to stay home is one thing, but being told to do so makes me want to go out.” .
The actress went on to detail her time spent at St Patrick’s Hospital in Dublin, where she credited a doctor for “saving her life”.
Brenda shared: ‘It was difficult, but there was a fantastic doctor, Anthony Clare. He saved my life. He was exceptional with me. It really brought me out of the deep end. Just an incredible mind. He understood me and reached out to me. I always left happy after seeing it. It made me feel good.’
Meanwhile, speaking to Anna Friel in 2012, she admitted: ‘I suffered from depression for 50 years. But now I go to the therapist once a week, just to talk and hear another human voice.
