The owner of a naturist resort in Fuerteventura has revealed all about nudist holidays.
The 57-year-old explained the do’s and don’ts of going skinny, from making eye contact to dealing with erections, and pointed out why naked vacations aren’t about sexual attraction.
Karie Jane, from Derbyshire, created BHH Naturist Resort in the Canary Islands, Spain, after trying this lifestyle for the first time 20 years ago.
Now, he hosts retreats where he hosts groups of strangers who have ‘booked separately’ to enjoy clothing-optional hotel rooms on his property, as well as hosting families and couples.
On her resort’s website, Karie notes that “nudism is not shameful nor is it porn,” and told MailOnline Travel that when it comes to the etiquette of getting naked in front of other naturists, it’s all a matter of respect, ” and it is a mistake to think so.” It’s about sexual attraction.’

Men and women can book their stay at BHH Naturist Resort (above) from £80 ($101) per night.
Karie (above) explained that the appeal of nudism is “the freedom to wear clothes and feel liberated.”
Karie continued: ‘Etiquette in every situation, not just in naturism, is about respect and consideration for others about our own conduct.
‘With your bare butt you should always sit on a towel out of courtesy and hygiene towards others. “This is an example of etiquette that then promotes kindness, thoughtfulness and humility.”
And it adds on its website: “You will be asked to sit on your towel regardless of whether you have just taken a cool shower.”
The 57-year-old hotel’s FAQ page adds that you should always “keep your legs together” when sitting, as “we all know you have one and no one wants to see your legs spread.”
Meanwhile, showers before entering the pool or hot tub are mandatory, and Karie noted that it can be transferred.dirt, grass, oils, sunscreen, lotions, deodorants and sweat’ into the community water.

Do you have any protocol regarding erections?
“They can happen,” says the resort owner, “especially if you’re new to nudism.”
She says the best way to deal with them “is to roll over on the towel or, if you’re at the beach, you can stay in the water until your situation is more under control.”
If someone calls attention to the fact that they are standing at attention, Karie says they should be reported.
She explains: “If you see someone with an obvious erection and they are purposely attracting attention, tell a lifeguard or the authorities and, in most cases, they will be kicked out and banned from returning.”
Staring at someone’s body is also frowning.
Karie’s website says: “It’s very rude to stare, and also, if you’re going to have a conversation with someone, make sure you’re talking to them with proper eye contact.”
“If you’re going to an event or the beach to have fun… you might as well buy a magazine and do us all a favor and stay home.”
Showers before entering the pool or jacuzzi are mandatory.
