It’s no secret… I’ve tried and written about many Kmart products, good AND bad. So before you grab the pitchforks, hear me out.
The budget retailer has come a long way. What was once a ‘daggy’ place for our mums and dads has become really cool in recent years; just ask the tens of thousands of shoppers who visit every week.
Not only has the chain kept up with the latest trends, from fashion to home goods, but the quality has improved with each season.
And what’s not to love about the prices? They are very affordable and allow customers to access great purchases, including “duh” ones, without having to spend a lot of money.
With hundreds of items in Home & Living, Fashion, Beauty, Sports & Outdoors, Technology and more, it can be extremely overwhelming deciding what to buy.
So to help you decide, here are five must-have items that I personally endorse.
Arched Floor Mirror – $59
When I tell you that my jaw dropped when I saw this new arc-shaped floor mirror for just $59, you’ll understand why. I have the same mirror in the entryway of my house, which I bought four years ago… for $549.
Kmart is now selling a stylish arc-shaped floor mirror for just $59, and it looks exactly the same as a version I have at home, which cost me $549.
It’s a gorgeous, timeless mirror, perfect for placing next to your front door to quickly check its fit, or as a clever trick to make a room look bigger and brighter.
While the mirrors look the same – they are both 170cm tall – there are key differences between the two.
The Kmart version has a frame and stand made of iron, weighs 9.35kg and is narrower than the more expensive one I have.
The most expensive mirror has a robust construction, is made of stainless steel with anti-corrosion glass, weighs 21.5 kg and measures 60 cm wide.
The quality between the two is very different, but for only $59, you can’t go wrong with the Kmart mirror.
4 Liter Blue Cast Iron Casserole – $25
I have a cast iron pot from Kmart, as well as a Le Creuset… While the quality can’t compare, I can attest that the Kmart pot does a pretty good job.
I have a cast iron pot from Kmart, as well as a Le Creuset… While the quality can’t compare, I can attest that the Kmart pot does a pretty good job.
I’ve cooked everything in one affordable casserole, including lamb ragout, homemade bread, bolognese, soups, and more, and I’m impressed.
I bought the pot over six years ago and still have it. It is an excellent pot for cooking and very useful to have in the kitchen.
That said, I want to point out that my Le Creuset still looks as good as the day I brought it home, while my meringue-colored Kmart pot has visible, stubborn stains from years of cooking that I haven’t been able to remove. .
But if you’ve been reluctant to shell out hundreds of dollars for a high-end cast iron pot, you won’t be disappointed with the one from Kmart. Plus, the new planter comes in a fun pastel blue color.
2 Tier Clear Turntable – $12
Buyers can now rearrange their kitchen, bedroom or office with this two-tier turntable.
I have several two-tier turntables at home, which I purchased from another retailer for over $20 each. They are very useful for organizing everything from herbs and spices to makeup and skin care products.
Not only does everything look neatly organized on your shelves or in your pantry, but you can also see everything in one place, so nothing gets forgotten or lost in the back of cabinets.
They are a great storage solution that can seriously transform a cluttered closet, giving you plenty of extra space for other things.
Kmart just released these turntables and trust me, you’re going to need some.
Set of 3 bag organizers – $10
If your drawers are full of ziplock bags or you’ve run out of space, these clear dispenser organizers will be a game changer.
If your drawers are full of ziplock bags or you’ve run out of space, these clear dispenser organizers will be a game changer.
Shoppers can get rid of unsightly cardboard boxes and keep the kitchen tidy.
The great thing about these dispensers is that they come in three different sizes (small, medium, and large), perfect for ziplock sandwich bags, freezer bags, and more.
They can be stored in a drawer or mounted on the wall if you have the space.
Riley Wave Floor Lamp – $49
I’ve been eyeing a similar ribbed floor lamp for years, but couldn’t justify paying $479 for it. Well, now Kmart has released a budget version for just $49
I’ve been eyeing a similar ribbed floor lamp for years, but couldn’t justify paying $479 for it. Well, now Kmart has released a budget version for just $49.
The pleated lampshade with a wave base adds a vintage-inspired look to any space and provides ambient lighting, perfect for when you don’t want to use the main light switch.
It will definitely be a crowd pleaser and I can already predict that many will be adding this floor lamp to their shopping carts this year.
So, if you’re on a tight budget but want to update your home with a stylish piece, this floor lamp could be just what you’re looking for.
