A nutrition consultant has shared how she makes her own guilt-free McChicken burgers using cheap Aldi purchases.
Bec Hardgrave, from Brisbane, used just four ingredients to make the “fake” snacks which only have 380 calories per serving.
“They’re super quick and easy to make. I just throw the chicken in the fryer, assemble the burgers and that’s it,” she said.
“It’s perfect when you fancy Macca, you have to try these.”
The fitness trainer purchased Aldi’s Farmwood brand chicken breast schnitzels for $4.99 for a four-pack and four sesame seed brioche burger buns.
Nutrition coach Bec Hardgrave (pictured) revealed how to make your own McDonald’s McChicken burger at home with affordable ingredients from Aldi.
She cooked Aldi’s Farmwood brand chicken breast schnitzels for $4.99 in the air fryer and put them on a brioche burger bun with sesame seeds, lettuce and light mayonnaise.
Bec also added Colway Light Squeezy Mayonnaise and a bag of shredded iceberg lettuce to her basket for $1.99.
He cooked the chicken schnitzels in the air fryer until crispy and then layered them on the burger buns with a small handful of lettuce and a drizzle of mayonnaise.
Each burger has only 380 calories and contains 18.2 grams of protein, 11.9 grams of fat and 48 grams of carbohydrates.
Bec shared the trick in a video and there were foodies eager to try Macca’s hoax for themselves.
“My favorite fake,” said one woman.
Next time, throw the buns in the fryer. Winner!’ suggested a home cook.
“I make it all the time with tomato, lettuce, cheese, red onion, barbecue sauce or sweet chili and vegan mayonnaise,” added another.
