Football fans are furious after a horror tackle in a Victorian NPL football match by a former A-League star that broke an opponent’s leg.

The match was between high-flying Avondale FC and Dandenong Thunder, with Avondale ultimately thrashing their opponents 8-0.

The visitors had taken the lead in the first half when former Mariner player Jordan Smylie slipped with a spiteful attack on Kristian Trajceski.

Trajceski was left lying on the grass clutching his injured leg, while his teammates rushed to confront Smylie.

The referee was left with no option but to show the 24-year-old a red card, with the ferocity of the tackle undeniably dangerous.

Football experts were shocked by the challenge and took to social media.

Football journalist Sacha Pisani posted on Trajceski was taken directly to the hospital; he reportedly had a broken leg.

Manchester United and Premier League champion Mark Bosnich was quick to respond, posting: “Disgusting… these tackles and whoever makes them have no place in football anywhere… the player who made this “should be suspended while Trajceski is out of action.” .

Other football fans were outraged by the behavior and echoed Bosch’s statements.

‘There is absolutely no place for that in any sport. I hope Trajceski recovers as quickly and as well as possible,” one responded.

“If you’re so frustrated by your or your team’s performance that you decide to make a tackle like this, then you shouldn’t be playing,” another responded.

Last month, fan violence forced the abandonment of a match between Oakleigh Cannons and Dandenong Thunder.

Mark Boschnich was shocked by the challenge and said it had no place in the sport.

Footage circulating on social media at the time showed a fan being knocked out in disturbing scenes after fans invaded the field at Jack Edwards Reserve in Oakleigh, Victoria.

Security forces were unable to contain the situation and the police were called to calm the violence. Fans were eventually escorted off the field long after the game was abandoned.

Approximately 500 fans were at the game and some allegedly threw objects at police and others nearby.
