Gilio described the debilitating flashbacks and psychological damage caused by the attack, and wished Sampieri & # 39; pain, darkness, and misery & # 39; in jail.
& # 39; The fear and feeling that a scalpel is being dragged over my neck without thinking of who I am … or my family, & # 39; he said to the court News Corp..
& # 39; The flashbacks will … never stop. I was a happy go lucky man, I was active, I enjoyed sports and socializing. & # 39;
Since the attack, Mr. Gilio said that he was no longer able to ride his motorcycle and that he had no concentration to continue his career as a mechanic.
& # 39; I feel that a large part of me died on the night of that incident. I see all children as vulnerable. I feel that I am responsible for protecting all children. I'm afraid of them. & # 39;
Gilio said that even the life sentence Sampieri encounters would not be harsh enough and hoped that he would suffer behind bars.

Another man who stormed the closed toilet stall to save the girl was also stabbed in the ensuing battle.
Sampieri is convicted of holding the girl, choking her to a serious crime, committing two indecent acts while filming her, abusing her indecently and injuring her with the intention of causing serious bodily harm.
On Thursday, he also pleaded guilty to seven allegations of 94 offensive, threatening or intimidating phone calls he had made with women from August to November 2018.
Sampieri was conditionally free for another sexual offense that had been committed years earlier when he attacked the seven-year-old girl.
