Alison Brie broke her silence on the loss of her friend and filmmaker Jeff Baena, who tragically passed away at the age of 47.
Baena died by suicide at the Los Angeles home he shared with his wife, actress Aubrey Plaza, 40.
Brie, 42, took to her Instagram on Sunday to share a series of emotional photos on her Instagram, paying tribute to Baena.
The first image shows Brie smiling as she watches Baena speak at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, where he presented Horse Girl – the Netflix film they co-wrote and produced, with Baena directing and Brie starring.
In another photo, Brie and Baena are seen cuddling, while a third shows her leaning against him on a couch, with Brie writing, “Rest in peace my friend,” in a touching tribute to their close friendship.
Plaza was supposed to be presented at the Golden Globe Awards in 2025, but those plans are now overshadowed by the heartbreaking loss of her husband.

In 2022, Brie recalled how she and her husband, actor Dave Franco, became neighbors of Baena and Plaza.
“Dave and I lived pretty close to Jeff and Aubrey. Jeff and I started walking together quite regularly, just like friends, and on these long walks we would talk about different ideas,” Brie said in an interview with Collider.
‘Eventually I felt comfortable enough with him to talk to him about my idea for Horse Girl, which we wrote and produced together.
“That was such a good experience.”
Baena’s body was discovered Friday morning by an assistant at the couple’s Los Feliz home, which they purchased in 2022.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed to DailyMail.com that officers arrived at the property at 10:25 a.m
The Life After Beth director was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later, the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Baena’s cause of death was suicide by hanging at the Los Feliz property.

Earlier this week, Plaza was announced as one of the presenters for Sunday’s ceremony, joining a list of stars including Andrew Garfield, Demi Moore, Gal Gadot and Nicolas Cage, who were all set to take the stage at the 82nd Annual Event.
Given the timing of her husband’s death just days before the Globes, it seems highly unlikely that Plaza will attend or host the awards ceremony.

Plaza has not yet publicly addressed her husband’s death.
Last year, she received her first Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for her role as Harper Spiller in The White Lotus.
