Hailey Welch, popularly known as the ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl, has revealed the downsides of finding fame after a video of her giving sex advice on the streets of Nashville went viral.
The 23-year-old told KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O show on Monday that she no longer feels comfortable going out in public alone.
“It’s really weird, I can’t go out in public alone anymore,” she admitted.
“I’m scared of being kidnapped or something. I’m really paranoid about it. And I’m also small, so I can’t defend myself from big people or anything.”
Hailey admitted that she hires security guards to protect her when she leaves her house.
She also recalled how she was recently shopping at a Walmart store when a man recognized her.
“A few weeks ago, a guy came up to me in Walmart and said, ‘I know you.’ I said, ‘No, I don’t know you.’ He said, ‘Yeah, I know you.'”
“And I said, ‘Oh, no, you don’t. ‘ I grabbed my bag and walked away and he said, ‘I know you, Mrs. Hawk. ‘”

Hailey initially isolated herself in rural Tennessee, where she lives with her family. Friends and family built a protective wall around her to shield her from the publicity.
Since she became the center of attention, she explained that she received “disgusting offers” from fans who tried to reach her through the man she partnered with to offer her special “Hawk Tuah” merchandise.
She said: ‘Three days ago, the guy who makes my hats was offered $600 to spit in a jar and sell it. That’s disgusting! It’s just disgusting, isn’t it?’
She also expressed frustration at social media users who were “misspelling my name” and creating accounts with her photos. She insists she deleted all her social media six months ago, long before she became an internet sensation.
“It’s kind of creepy seeing your face on another account that doesn’t belong to you,” Hailey added.

She was hailed as the “queen of the internet” after being asked for advice on how to please a man in bed.
She said excitedly, “You have to give them that falcon, tuah.”
Hundreds of memes followed, there was talk of a Hollywood agent, the phrase was shouted by a fan as 2024 US Open golf champion Bryson DeChambeau hit a tee shot at the LIV event in Nashville and gymnast Olivia Dunne joined in on the craze.
Mixed martial arts hero Conor McGregor tweeted on X: “Have we located Hawk Tuah yet?”
She joined Lapaglia, aka ‘Brianna Chickenfry,’ just two days after sharing the stage with Lapaglia’s boyfriend, Zach Bryan, at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
In the wide-ranging interview, Hailey confirmed that she had gone out drinking that night, but that her vulgar comment was a joke and that she “didn’t mean anything by it.”
