Having a cracking time! Easter gets off to a beery start as revellers party long into Sunday morning to make the most of the four-day holiday weekend

Revelers have been partying on Easter Sunday morning as they continue to make the most of the four-day bank holiday weekend.

Party-goers arrived in British Summer Time in style, with many dressing up in their best costumes and braving the still-chilly weather ahead of the longer days.

It didn’t stop the less hour in bed from keeping them out late into the night, and drunken partygoers refused to return home, even when they were on their last legs.

Young people flocked to Newcastle city center to celebrate the bank holiday, taking advantage of the two more free days many have ahead of them.

Brits packed pubs, bars, clubs and eventually kebab shops as they partied well into the early hours of Sunday morning.

Outfits on display included Mario and Luigi, Ali G, cowgirls, and of course, Easter bunnies.

Brits made the most of the Easter Saturday sunshine in Leeds yesterday as they suited up for the infamous Otley Run.

Some were seen dressed up, while others wore skimpy outfits to hit the pub with their friends.

Easter bunnies, sailors and cricket boys were photographed boarding the mammoth 17-venue route.

Footage also shows some people falling to the ground while smiling during the mid-afternoon drinking session.

The historic pub crawl starts at the Woodies pub in Far Headingley and finishes at The Dry Dock, just outside the town centre.

The challenge is to have a drink in each of the 17 pubs along the way.

Revelers also descended on the city Friday night as the four-day weekend began.

The streets of Newcastle, Birmingham and Leeds were filled with revelers as celebrants dressed up to make the most of the bank holiday weekend.

Some wore elaborate hockey suits, others enjoyed the occasion as cheerleaders, aliens and even supervillains.

But when the Easter holiday began in force, the police forces also took to the streets in force; A man on Birmingham Broad Street had to be detained by police after a fight at a takeaway restaurant.

Fortunately, the rain held off as revelers danced the night away in skimpy outfits despite the strong winds.

After a period of unsettled weather, people across the country have finally seen some sunshine, especially in the central and northern areas.

After a cold start on Sunday, there will be another warm day with brighter spells.

Highs of 16°C are forecast in central and southern England and 15°C in north-west England.

Monday is likely to be mostly fine with the driest area being the north of the UK.

The best sunshine will be in the northwest of Scotland.

There is a possibility of further rainfall affecting the south and south-east of England.

There is also a small chance this could end up spreading more in England and Wales.
