On Tuesday, Channel Ten’s competitive cooking show aired its 1,000th episode, since its premiere in 2009, without any fanfare.

However, a handful of enthusiastic fans took to Reddit to acknowledge the important occasion and wonder why the series’ judges didn’t mention it on the show.

‘I realized an amazing statistic: MCA has reached 1000 episodes! If you’ve seen each episode once, that’s almost 42 DAYS of programming, 24 hours a day,” wrote one enthusiastic viewer.

Meanwhile, another fan questioned why the network didn’t take the opportunity to publicly celebrate the show.

‘It’s a missed opportunity. “They should have done something big this week to celebrate, especially since one of the judges just mentioned that this week is about something big,” they wrote.

Typically between 60 and 80 episodes are produced for each series of the hit reality show, which first aired in April 2009, featuring judges Matt Preston, George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan.

Thanks to this achievement, the hit series, which launched the public careers of many culinary experts including Poh Ling Yeoh and Julie Goodwin, becomes the second Australian reality series to clock 1,000 episodes.

It is second only to Big Brother, which has filmed more than 1,500 episodes since its debut in 2001.

Meanwhile, Channel Nine’s hit renewal show The Block has produced more than 900 episodes and should reach the same milestone in the coming years.

The latest series of MasterChef is judged by food experts Andy Allen, French celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, Melbourne-based food critic Sofia Levin and season one finalist Poh Ling Yeow.

They replace outgoing judge Melissa Leong and the late Jock Zonfrillo, following their tragic deaths last year.
