The 30-year-old Manchester United defender, who strenuously denies the allegations, was found guilty and sentenced to a 21-month suspended prison sentence, but the verdict was automatically overturned on appeal.
Announcing the latest delay, a Syros judicial official suggested time could be running out to hold the retrial before the August 2028 deadline, saying: “At this rate, Maguire may have retired from professional football by the time he receives a summons.” “.

However, prosecutor Yannis Paradisis told Mail Sport there is no chance of that happening.
