Gogglebox viewers were left emotional after a heartfelt message was aired at the end of Friday’s episode.
Although fans were pleased the hit Channel 4 show was returning for a new series, they were heartbroken when it ended with a touching tribute to the show’s star Pat Webb, mother of Stephen Lustig-Webb.
Pat, who appeared on the show from series 10 to 12 alongside his son Stephen, died last month, aged 75.
As the credits rolled, a photo of Stephen and his beloved mother on the show read: ‘IN LOVING MEMORY Mum Pat Webb 1948 – 2024.’

Fans were left emotional after the heartfelt note and took to X, formerly Twitter, to pay tribute and remember the show’s beloved star.
They wrote: “Sad to hear Pat Webb has passed away, she was so funny #Gogglebox.”

Stephen, 52, who appeared on the show for 10 years before leaving in 2023, took to Instagram after his mother’s death to share a sweet photo of them together.
She wrote: ‘Mom Pat, you were one in a million, you took everyone at face value, you would share your last five dollars with a stranger, the salt of the earth and the absolute center of our world. Rest in peace mom.”

Pat died aged 75 after a “long illness” at the weekend; His son Stephen, who also appears on the show, paid tribute to him on Instagram on Monday.
The official Gogglebox account shared this post on Twitter shortly after.

Stephen was one of the show’s longest-serving stars, joining when it started in 2013, but left last year to take part in Dancing On Ice (LR: Stephen with fellow DOI stars Ricky Norwood and Amber Davies).
However, in a surprising turn of events, Stephen was forced to retire after breaking his left ankle during a training session.
The news was also announced on Gogglebox’s social media page.
A statement read: “We are deeply saddened to announce that Gogglebox star Mummy Pat Webb passed away this weekend at the age of 75 after a long illness.
‘Pat was a much-loved cast member on the show from seasons 10 to 12 alongside his son Stephen.
‘Mummy Pat will be remembered and missed by her children Stephen, Denise, Sharon, Beverley and all the family.
“Our thoughts are with the family who have requested privacy at this sad time.”
Pat’s fans took to the comments of the post to share their condolences after the sad news was announced on social media.
They said: ‘Oh I loved your mum on Gogglebox, you two were brilliant together. I am very sorry to hear this sad news.’
‘My God, I’m so sorry. She was quite a character on Gogglebox.
‘Oh Stephen, I’m so sorry! Your mom was so funny when you were both on Gogglebox. She sends lots of love to you, Daniel and your family.”
Pat joined Gogglebox after Stephen’s former partner Chris Steed left the show in 2018.

The sad news comes after Stephen announced that he and Daniel were leaving the show last year.
Stephen confirmed he would not be returning to Gogglebox after leaving to join Dancing On Ice.
He said at the time: “It’s been 10 years and it’s time to move on and see what else is out there.”
‘We filmed our final scenes in the last series and they have already been shown. There have been some opportunities in the works, but I’m not going to say much just yet.
“If I was approached, I’d like to do Celeb Bear Grylls – I think I could cope very well.”
“But the worst part of the experience would be eating things; something like rats would be my nightmare.”
However, in a surprising turn of events, Stephen was forced to retire after breaking his left ankle during a training session.
In October last year he was rushed to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, where doctors told him he had broken his left ankle and would need crutches for at least the next three months.
The television personality underwent surgery to have metal plates placed in her ankle for additional support.
