Giants’ Murphy angrily hits his team after suffering injury in downpour originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
The Giants could have lost their two best receivers to injuries in the span of 24 hours.
A few hours after Patrick Bailey was placed in 7 day concussion On the disabled list, veteran backup catcher Tom Murphy suffered an injury in the second inning of the Giants’ game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday night at Citizens Bank Park.

The Giants and Phillies endured a 70-minute rain delay and began playing in a downpour at 7:15 p.m. ET.
It’s unclear what injury Murphy suffered, but he was unhappy in the dugout, punching his catcher’s gear in frustration.
Blake Sabol, who was just called up earlier Saturday to take Bailey’s spot on the roster, entered the game in Murphy’s place.
Bailey was fouled off his mask in the first inning of the Giants’ 4-3 loss to the Phillies on Saturday and left the game in the second inning.
With Joey Bart no longer in the organization, the Giants’ receiving depth will be tested if Murphy is forced to miss an extended period.
Jakson Reetz, a 28-year-old minor league journeyman currently playing for the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats, could be the next catcher to get the call from the Giants if Murphy is seriously injured.
