1999 – Virginia Roberts Giuffre is reportedly recruited by Ghislaine Maxwell to become Epstein’s ‘sex slave’ at the age of 17. She also claimed that he forced her to have sex with his friend Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth’s second son.
2002 – Trump tells New York Magazine that his friend Epstein “loves beautiful women just as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
2005 – A 14-year-old girl tells police that Epstein abused her at his Palm Beach home.
May 2006 – Epstein and two of his associates are charged with multiple counts of unlawful sexual acts against a minor. State attorney of the time, Barry Krischer, referred the case to a grand jury that heard only two of the twelve girls that law enforcement officials had gathered as potential witnesses. They returned to prostitution only once.
July 2006 – The case is referred to the FBI by Florida Palm Beach Police Department, who were unhappy with the way the case was handled.
2007 Epstein’s attorneys meet with Alexander Acosta, Miami’s top federal prosecutor, who would later become the Secretary of Labor in the Trump administration. They secretly negotiate the ‘deal of a lifetime’.
June 2008 – After being guilty of two charges of prostitution, the millionaire was sentenced to 18 months in a low-security prison in exchange for ending their investigation of his sex acts with minors and granting him immunity from future prosecution in connection with those charges. In actuality, Epstein was able to work from his office six days a week while supposedly in prison.
July 2008 – Prosecutors first learned of the deal.
July 2009 – Epstein is released from prison five months earlier.
July 2018 – The Miami Herald releases investigative journalist Julie K. Brown’s account of Epstein’s long history of alleged sexual abuse and news of the ‘deal of a lifetime’ after Acosta was appointed Labor secretary.
February 2019 – Justice opens an internal review of Epstein’s plea deal.
July 7, 2019 – Epstein is arrested after his private jet lands from Paris at New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport. At the same time, federal agents break into his Manhattan mansion, where they have discovered hundreds of photos of naked minors.
July 8, 2019 – Epstein is charged with sex trafficking charges detailing how he set up a network of underage girls in Florida and New York and paid girls as young as 14 for “ massages and sex acts. ” The charges carry a maximum prison sentence of 45 years.
July 11, 2019 – More than a dozen women, previously unknown to the police, came forward to charge him with sexual abuse.
July 24 – Epstein was found unconscious in his cell after an apparent suicide attempt. He was moved to suicide watch at the Metropolitan Correctional Center.
Aug 9, 2019 – Over 2,000 documents have been unsealed revealing in detail the lurid allegations against Epstein.
August 10, 2019 – Epstein is found dead in his cell.
