Germany U21 1-0 Portugal U21: Former England youth international Lukas Nmecha of Manchester City scores match winner… as Germans win European Under-21 Championship for THIRD time
Germany won the European Under-21 Championship with a former England youth international who scored the goal beating Portugal 1-0 in the final.
Lukas Nmecha neatly rounded Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa and scored in the 49th minute after an oblique pass into the mouth of Wolfsburg midfielder Ridle Baku.
German-born Nmecha played just a handful of games at his mother club Manchester City before impressing on loan at Anderlecht this season. The Belgian club is coached by former City great Vincent Kompany.

It was a disappointment for Portugal, who could not find their way back to the final in Ljubljana
Germany’s third title under 21 euros followed victories in 2009 and 2017, leaving Portugal as a finalist for the third time, after 1994 and 2015.
Portugal’s team in 2015 consisted of three players who were part of the senior national team that won the Euro 2016 final.
Portugal will defend its title in the postponed Euro 2020 tournament starting Friday, and will face Germany in a Group F match in Munich on June 19.
