Gary Neville believes Manchester United’s 2-2 draw at Liverpool is his “best performance” under Ruben Amorim so far.
The Red Devils moved level with the Premier League leaders with a determined performance at Anfield.
Lisandro Martínez opened the scoring with a spectacular shot seven minutes into the second half, but Liverpool responded shortly after.
Cody Gakpo scored the equalizer before Mohamed Salah gave the hosts the lead from the penalty spot after a handball from Matthijs de Ligt.
Amad Diallo ensured the spoils were shared and Neville praised his former club.
“I think it’s the best performance under Ruben Amorim, maybe the whole season by a mile,” he said on Sky Sports.

The Red Devils held the Premier League leaders to an unlikely draw at Anfield
Neville believes it was Manchester United’s best performance under Rubén Amorim so far
“Coming to Anfield, the best team in the league this year surpasses that win at (Manchester) City the other week. City were in a bad place and the way the game went they were a bit lucky to get the win.
“I thought United were magnificent today from the first minute. They fully deserved it (the draw).
“We were expecting the worst. There is no Manchester United fan who has woken up in the morning and not thought that the worst will happen today.
“I thought (Kobbie) Mainoo, (Manuel) Ugarte and (Bruno Fernandes) controlled the midfield and (Curtis) Gravenberch, Curtis Jones and (Alexis) Mac Allister have been exceptional this season, they have outplayed teams and I thought they really Those three did well.’
Despite the feel-good factor immediately after the match, United remain in the bottom half of the table and only edge out West Ham to 13th on goal difference.
Bruno Fernandes appears to finally be rediscovering his best form under Amorim but was left frustrated at full-time as he demanded United show consistency by repeating the kind of performance that almost saw them claim a late victory against Liverpool.
‘They have criticized us a lot, we lost too many points. Even today we cannot be happy with the draw,” Fernandes said.
“I think it’s a really good result, we could have even won the game in the end. It’s a fair result. I’m upset because if we showed this against Liverpool, why can’t we do it every week?
‘I finally gave a proper performance overall. We need a lot more of ourselves to get more out of this season.
“He’s been here but he didn’t arrive until today’s game. Now we have an FA Cup game against Arsenal which is going to be very difficult again. We want to be in that final again. I’ll probably be more worried about Southampton after this performance,” he added.
