The UK Border Force has been criticized for “degrading” two Israeli Nova Music Festival survivors who were “detained for two hours” at Manchester Airport after flying out to speak about their experience.
Footage shows a Border Force officer speaking in “aggressive terms” to the two men who had traveled to the UK to raise awareness about a charity they set up to help survivors of the terror attacks.
The couple are said to be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after Hamas invaded a music festival in Israel on October 7 last year, leading to the rape, torture and murder of more than 1,000 civilians.
In images published in X, the Border Force officer says: ‘Stop that attitude. We have made the decision for you to come, so let us do the necessary checks and remain silent.
‘Look at me. Are you clear about that? Good. We are the bosses, not you.
Home Secretary James Cleverley announced this evening on X that the incident is being handled, adding: “We do not tolerate anti-Semitism or any form of discrimination.”
The two Israelis “do not appear to have argued” with the officer, according to Marc Levy, executive director of the Jewish Representative Council of Greater Manchester and its region.

James Cleverly has since posted a statement on X saying the incident is being handled.

Levy added that the officer’s tone was “unnecessary and degrading” toward the two men.
The men, said to be brothers, were allegedly detained for two hours, before the same border police officer said: “they had to make sure that you are not going to do what you are doing here in Gaza.”
In a letter to Manchester Airport Group, Mr Levy wrote: ‘We unequivocally condemn the fact that Israeli citizens have been detained and subjected to abuse by a border police officer.
“The comment following his release demonstrates beyond any doubt that this individual was motivated by anti-Semitic intentions.”
He added: “The only reason for their detention and interrogation was because they are Israelis.”
According to Levy, the two men were attending the music festival when the terrorists began murdering civilians.
“Instead of fleeing, the brothers, one of whom is a doctor, remained at the festival site to save others, fight the terrorists, and treat the wounded,” Levy wrote.
A Home Office spokesperson said: “We are aware of the complaint made against Border Force staff at Manchester Airport and we are investigating these claims.
“While the facts and circumstances are established, it must be reiterated that we do not tolerate anti-Semitism, in any form or anywhere.”
