Erling Haaland will now tackle a completely new type of defense by becoming a character from his favorite video game, Clash of Clans.
Haaland has proven to be the revelation everyone expected him to be in the Premier League since his arrival at the start of last season, scoring a staggering 57 goals in just 62 appearances for Manchester City.
As a result, he rose to prominence as perhaps the best No 9 in the world and has taken City to new heights helping them to a treble last season with their first Champions League crown.
However, it now joins Clash of Clans, one of the most popular mobile games in the world, with over 2 billion downloads since its first release.
Haaland becomes the first character based on a real person, and can be found under the name Barbarian King in the game developed by Supercell in which players build their own villages before launching attacks on their enemies to gain power.

The striker participated in an advertisement in which he is captured and transported to the game
The Norwegian international again posted a promotional ad that read: “From the field to the battlefield!” I’m the new Barbarian King in Clash of Clans.’
He added: “It’s been hard to keep this a secret, but I’m excited to finally be able to talk about this epic partnership with Clash of Clans.”
“I’ve been a big fan of the game for a long time and know everything about it, so to be featured as a character in the game is really cool.”
The striker appeared in an advert to announce the news, which showed him in his own home captured by other characters and transported into the game.
In the video game, his image, the Barbarian King, has the same iconic ponytail hairstyle, but is dressed in golden armor and gauntlets.
He then immediately assists his new teammates by performing maintenance with a bomb, before acrobatically launching it into an enemy fortress and leading the charge through the broken wall.
Stuart McGaw, CEO of Clash of Clans, said: “When we heard that Haaland was a fan of our game and wanted to partner with us, it was truly a dream scenario.
“Our team went above and beyond to bring him, one of the world’s greatest athletes, into the world of football so our players could enjoy a truly special moment.”

Haaland came off the bench on Sunday to score Manchester City’s second goal in a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Back on the pitch, Haaland returned from a two-game injury absence at the weekend to help Man City to victory at Nottingham Forest.
The Norway international came off the bench in the second half to score his 21st goal of the campaign and double the lead in the champions’ 2-0 win over Forest.
