The captivating images were taken in Alaska, which houses 100,000 largely unnamed glaciers, New Zealand, Iceland, Argentina, Greenland and France.

Only a handful of the 47 countries that harbor glaciers. But the collection is still powerful.

The images include huge glaciers meandering through the valleys and one in Alaska, notably, being ridden by a mountain biker.

Of course, global warming means that some of these amazing phenomena have been reduced in size.
