A starving woman in her 90s accidentally stabbed herself in the back with a knife while eating a cheese platter.
The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries after the accidental stabbing at the Villa Serena nursing home in Robina on the Gold Coast.
She was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital, where she had to wait hours for the blade to be removed. Costa Dorada Newsletter reported.
The woman reportedly reached out to grab onto the kitchen bench when she lost her balance and dropped the knife to the floor, before falling on top of it.
She is said to have remained “in good spirits” while being treated.
