Comedian Gareth Richards has died at the age of 41 after a horrific car accident.
The married father of two – who co-presented on Absolute Radio with Frank Skinner – suffered serious brain damage in the accident, according to a statement from his wife Laura.
Richards died at 6.30pm on Friday after spending two weeks in hospital and his wife praised his “incredible” doctors and nurses.
It comes a week after Skinner, 66, burst into tears as he told listeners that Richards was in a coma and fighting for his life.
The statement read: ‘It is with great sadness that I must share that Gareth passed away at 6.30pm on Friday 7th April (Good Friday).

“He was in a terrible car accident at 11:30 PM on Monday, March 27, and has suffered severe brain damage.
It was a miracle that he made it to the hospital alive.
“Since then, the doctors and nurses have been incredible and kept him in a stable and sedated state.
“However, the final scan showed that the extent of the damage was so severe that they had to remove all supportive drugs and let him rest.
“The boys are doing well.”
It is believed Richards was injured in a serious accident on the M25 near Heathrow Airport.
A man, believed to be Richards, was cut from his vehicle by firefighters before being treated for head and chest injuries by the London Ambulance Service.
