Frank Lampard insists that he is ‘keen to get working again’ as he eyes a managerial comeback 10 months after his miserable caretaker spell in charge of Chelsea

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has hinted at a return to management, 10 months after his disastrous spell as interim boss of his former club.

Lampard had returned to the Stamford Bridge dugout midway through last season following the sackings of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.

But it proved to be a miserable period, as the Blues won just one of his 11 games in charge. Since then, the 45-year-old has appeared on television as an expert and often highlighted his enjoyment of spending time with family.

In fact, Lampard maintains that he enjoys quality time with his children, but stated that he is now keeping his eyes open for his next role.

“I’m enjoying being with the family and hope to return at some point.” He said talkSPORT. “Hopefully something comes along that seems right to me. I really want to get back to work but, as I repeat, I’m enjoying family life.

‘It’s intense work, so when you’re not in it, it’s nice to appreciate being around all my kids.

‘You love the job. You understand the rigors of this today. I have enjoyed all the clubs I have worked with.

‘They have all been great challenges for different reasons. “I enjoy working with players, improving the players and the team, so let’s see what’s next.”

The former England international’s first managerial role came at Derby County, with whom he advanced to the Championship play-off final in 2018.

Surprisingly, that was enough for the Blues to come knocking a year later as they prepared to embark on a transfer-ban season.

Lampard was key in facilitating the integration of youngsters such as Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount and Reece James into the first team, although he was ultimately sacked with just 18 months left on his contract.

In January 2022, he made the risky decision to manage relegation-threatened Everton, but led them to safety only to last a few more months in the job before being sacked just a year later.
