A former Trump adviser has claimed that Kamala Harris will end up as a Supreme Court justice if she fails to act immediately against the former president.
Richard Grenell, who served as Director of National Intelligence under the Trump administration, posted on X predicting an “open convention fight for president.”
The 57-year-old said: “If (Harris) fails to achieve this goal, Justice Sotomayor will be forced to resign to make way for Kamala and then an open fight at the convention to elect the president.”
Justice Sonia Sotomayor has been under pressure to step down amid fears she might allow a Republican president to appoint a conservative successor.
Sotomayor, 70, has been asked to resign so as not to follow in the footsteps of liberal Ruth Bade Ginsburg, who died while serving at the age of 87 in 2020.
Ginsburg’s death allowed then-President Trump to consolidate a conservative majority of six to three with the appointment of Amy Coney Barrett.

While Grenell clearly expects the Democratic candidate to fail, she has already won a significant number of prominent Democratic supporters.
Allowing Harris, a former California attorney general, to sit on the Supreme Court justices would prevent that from happening.
Grenell said NBC News On Sunday night, after President Biden announced he was dropping out of the race, he said he was “thrilled” that the 81-year-old was endorsing Harris.
The former ambassador to Germany told the outlet: “We are very excited by the fact that he has supported Kamala.
“As we know in California, she has never been investigated. Kamala Harris is a product of this entire system. She is very left-wing, she has not been investigated or tested.”
While Grenell clearly expects the Democratic candidate to fail, she has already won a significant number of prominent Democratic supporters.
Her former boss has also already said that he thinks Harris will be an even easier defeat than Biden.
Biden announced Sunday afternoon that he will not seek re-election and endorsed his vice president.
National polling averages show Harris trailing Biden by 48 to 46 percent, according to the New York Times.
This represents an improvement over Biden’s results in the same polls, which showed Trump leading him 47 to 44.

In swing states and even states that have gone reliably Democratic in recent elections, Harris outperformed Biden in polls even when she lost.
He is one point (48-47) behind Trump in Pennsylvania, surpassing Biden, who was losing 48-45 to Trump.
In Virginia, she leads Trump by five percentage points over Biden, who only leads Trump by four percentage points.

However, his lack of public appearances has led political figures on both the left and right to suggest he is seriously ill or even dead.
Republican firebrand Lauren Boebert posted a message on X asking him to show “proof of life” and even gave the president a deadline.
While leftist anti-Biden journalist Glenn Greenwald called it “strange and wrong” that Biden had not addressed the nation about his decision.

There is no suggestion or evidence that Biden is suffering from any health problems. Any such illness could represent a significant national security issue and would quickly become public, prompting the announcement of a temporary replacement.
Concerns about his health have been exacerbated after his younger brother said he had been a factor in his resignation.
Frank Biden told CBS: “I’m incredibly proud of my brother. Selfishly, I’m going to bring him back to enjoy whatever time we have left.”
That choice of phrase sparked speculation that Biden has a secret illness that he has not disclosed.
A leading Parkinson’s disease specialist has visited the White House several times this year, though officials have insisted Biden is in good health.
In her first public appearance since dropping out of the race, Harris praised Biden after he endorsed her as the Democratic nominee.
She told those gathered at an event for the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s championship teams at the White House that she was “recovering well.”
Harris said she met him through her son Beau, with whom Harris worked as attorneys general in both Delaware and California.
Harris told the crowd: “We are deeply grateful for your service to our nation.”
