One of Tom Brady’s former teammates expressed skepticism about the Hall of Famer’s ability to expand his arsenal, going so far as to call him a liar.

While expressing his admiration for Patrick Mahomes’ style of play during an appearance on the Pivot podcast, Brady hinted at how he would do things differently if he could get his NFL career back on track.

However, former Patriots tight end Christian Fauria, who now hosts a talk show on WEEI 93.7 in Boston, expressed doubts about the statement.

“I think Brady is a liar,” Fauria said cheerfully on his radio show.

“When I heard it, I was like, ‘Who’s he kidding? He can’t shift. He can’t downshift. That’s not who he is. He’s not wired like Mahomes.'”

Flauria played in the NFL from 1995 to 2007, including a stint with the Patriots from 2002 to 2005. The retired tight end contributed to two of Brady’s first Super Bowl titles.

Brady would go on to win a total of seven Super Bowl titles, including one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before hanging up his cleats. After a legendary career on the field, Brady will join FOX Sports as an NFL analyst under Kevin Burkhardt on a ten-year, $357 million deal.

“I’ve seen him having a good time, I’ve heard him laugh and joke,” Fauria continued.

‘But when it came to the game, you could see it during certain passes, or when he won a game or got a first down.

“He’s very happy, he’s celebrating like a little kid, but the reality is that his build is very different than Mahomes’. Everything about him is different.”

Mahomes, meanwhile, has led the Kansas City Chiefs to two consecutive titles and three championships in the past five years. The quarterback was crowned Super Bowl MVP in all three of his victories.

Despite surpassing Mahomes for his final ring in 2021, Brady had high praise for the Chiefs quarterback.

“When I watch these young players, I see Patrick as a quarterback, running around, laughing, having fun,” Brady said. “And I think, ‘I used to be like that. What the heck happened?'”

“I got too serious, but then again, I can only look back and think,” Brady said. “OK, if I do it again, which I’ll never do again, it would be different.” But the reality is that you can’t.
