Tom Brady has taken a swipe at Daniel Jones over his departure from the New York Giants after admitting he wouldn’t have asked to be released from a team that “meant a lot to you.”
Jones left the Giants last week after approaching owner John Mara and asking to be released from his contract, a request that was quickly accepted.
“I don’t know how the whole situation played out, but to think that you would ask to be released from a team that has done a lot for you might be a little different than how I would have handled it,” Brady said.
“I always felt like I wanted to gain the trust and respect of my teammates, no matter the situation, knowing that I was trying to be the best I could be for the team because that was the most important thing.”
The seven-time Super Bowl winner continued, “There’s just a few different things going on in the NFL, and everyone’s making individual choices.
“I think we all face different challenges at different points in our careers. I met them in college and some things didn’t go my way, but the people that mattered most to me were the guys in the locker room.
“I showed up every day. I don’t care if they asked me to be a scout team safety (or) to be a scout team quarterback…I was going to do whatever I could to help the team win.”
