Isaac Heeney and his partner Steffi Waters have gone viral in recent days after the Sydney Swans star’s girlfriend shared a racy photo of the couple on her Instagram.
The 28-year-old, who received 28 votes in this year’s Brownlow Medal, enjoyed an excellent season with the Swans, despite being taken off injured in their agonizing AFL Grand Final loss to the Lions.
While it was a bitter pill to swallow for the gun, who posted above-average stats for his career this season, it appears the Bloods star has been enjoying the off-season and festive period with his family.
Waters, who has 14,300 followers on Instagram, took to the social media platform to share a racy photo of the couple wearing matching Christmas jumpers.
The couple smiled, with Heeney’s T-shirt reading “Official Stocking Stuffer,” while Waters’ T-shirt read, “I’m the Stocking.”
Fans were left baffled by her outfit, with one writing: ‘OMG the jumper!’
Isaac Heeney and his partner Steffi Waters shared a daring photo on Instagram showing off their Christmas sweaters.
The couple had spent the Christmas period celebrating with loved ones, after Heeney enjoyed a standout season with the Swans.
“Best sweaters,” said another.
Heeney made 24 AFL appearances this season, scoring 34 goals from midfield.
He was also a strong contender for record of the year, for his miraculous catch during the Swans’ final victory over rivals GWS.
Heeney later admitted that he played in this year’s finals series with a stress fracture in his foot.
“Well, I came in feeling good,” he told 7News.
“Obviously (I’d been) struggling with that throughout the final, and I felt like I’d had a pretty good finals campaign going into the grand final.
‘And coming into that game, I really felt good.
“I was pretty sore after the Port (preliminary final), but I did everything I could during the week and went into the game feeling good, and definitely good enough to play and play well.
“And then, yeah, halfway through the first quarter, they tackled me and ran me from behind, and it just fell under me.
‘And that’s what made things worse and worse throughout the game. And then, yeah…at the beginning of the fourth quarter, I obviously couldn’t run.
‘And I tried to (run), I kept going and they took me out right away, and I just couldn’t run.
“So in hindsight it’s a wonderful thing and if I’d known I was going to get tackled in that position then I absolutely wouldn’t (have played).
“But coming in, I felt comfortable enough to play and play a really good role, but obviously things didn’t go that way.”
He later spoke about how much the Grand Final loss to the Lions devastated his team.
Heeney has also reflected on the AFL Grand Final, in which the Swans were defeated by the Lions.
Heeney stated that the defeat was one of the worst he had ever felt, adding: “It was difficult.”
After such an excellent season, the Swans would be defeated 120-60 by Brisbane, and Heeney admitted he had never felt so hurt by a defeat.
“That’s how it was, absolutely,” he told Channel 7.
‘It was hard. I’ve probably never felt the impact of a defeat like I did in that grand final. I rode it pretty hard and it took a bit of a toll on me.
“So it was nice to walk in (and see it) it was pretty confronting but at the same time it was something we had to do to get over it.”
