A Florida woman has been arrested following the death of her 14-year-old daughter, who witnesses reportedly saw being held underwater in a bathtub. Authorities are investigating the case as a potential homicide. Kelsey Glover, 35, is currently charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.
However, Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez He stated during a press conference Wednesday that these charges could be upgraded to murder pending the medical examiner’s ruling on the cause of death. Sheriff’s deputies responded to Glover’s home after receiving reports of an armed disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found a chaotic scene.
Glover was holding a hammer and reportedly attempted to hit a witness who had tried to stop him from harming his daughter. “When the officers get there, they are actually taking a hammer from her and she is trying to hit the lady who is trying to stop her from hurting her daughter,” López explained to fox news.
“It was just something we caught in the act, and God only knows what direction it was going to go if we didn’t get there in time and kick down the door.” Witnesses told police they saw Glover holding his daughter’s head underwater in the bathtub. When officers found the teen in the upstairs bathroom, she was unresponsive.
“They tried to stop her but they couldn’t” Lopez said. “Eventually, Ms. Glover began attacking and chasing these witnesses throughout the house with a hammer.” The teenager was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Four people were reportedly in the home at the time of the incident: Glover, the victim, another child who lives there, and an unidentified adult resident.
Lopez also noted a history of domestic violence in the home. Glover allegedly punched the teen’s father during a previous incident, leading him to obtain a warrant against her. The sheriff’s office has opened a homicide investigation into the case. “It’s a dark day when things like this happen,” Lopez said. “What happened to him is unimaginable and we are determined to get justice.” While authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the incident, Glover remains in custody and the community reels from the tragedy.
