Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje are among the fighters who made their last minute preparations prior to tonight’s UFC 249 event.
It will be the first major US sporting event since its halt due to the coronavirus pandemic, led by Ferguson fighting for the interim lightweight championship against Gaethje.
Ferguson originally planned to finally close horns with Khabib Nurmagomedov, although the Russian withdrew after returning to his homeland due to his pandemic.
Justin Gaethe and Tony Ferguson are staring down for their UFC 249 match
Gaethe prepared for his match of the main event by wrestling with his coach Luke Caudillo
UFC’s official YouTube channel posted a vlog series to hype tonight’s card with 11 attacks.
Gaethje, who has a 21-2-0 win record, was working hard on his grappling skills with one of his coaches, Luke Caudillo.
The pair shared a joke after the number four lightweight in the world caught his coach with a knee in the chest.
Caudillo responded to the knee and said, “oh you f ***, you can’t knead a knocked-down opponent,” to which Gaethje laughed and joked “yes, you can.”
Both Gaethje and Ferguson added weight to the fight and shared an intense stare down without giving away too much.
Other games on the card include Henry Cejudo defending his UFC bantamweight championship against Dominick Cruz and Francis Ngannou against Jairzinho Rozenstruik in what should be a stubborn heavyweight match.

The winner of Ferguson v Gaethje may face Khabib Nurmagomedov in the future
Cejudo pulled out a bag of pillows with Cruz’s face in his distance and kicked them away.
As they walked away, Cruz told Cejudo that it was “time to buy a new pair of pants” to which Cejudo replied, “Yeah, you just show up tomorrow.”
During the weighting session no face masks were worn during the face-to-face distances.
Before the event, there was already drama with Jacare Souza retiring after testing positive for the corona virus prior to his middleweight bout with Uriah Hall.
