Ferne McCann has confirmed that the upcoming season of her long-running reality show will be its last, days after her former co-star Billie Shepherd quit her own show.

McCann, best known for her regular appearances on The Only Way Is Essex with Shepherd, has documented her journey from pregnancy and single parenthood to becoming a committed mother of two on ITVBe shows First Time Mum and, most recently, My Family And Me.

But the TV personality, 34, is ready to pull the plug after making the “difficult decision” with her fiancé, businessman Lorri Haines, and her six-year-old daughter Sunday, her daughter with ex-partner Arthur Collins.

Confirming the news with her Instagram followers, she wrote: ‘After 13 incredible series, I have made the very difficult decision that this series of @fernemyfamandme will be my last.

“Where do I start? First of all, I want to thank everyone who has watched my show and followed us on our family trip.

“This show has been an incredible part of my life for the past seven years and it’s been an incredible journey filming it from when I was pregnant with Sunday until now. Your support and loyalty to me and my family has, at times, lifted me up more than you will ever know. Thank you.”

McCann, who is also dad to 14-month-old Finty with Haines, added: “From the day I started filming, I’ve put my heart and soul into the show. I truly feel like I’ve laughed, cried, loved and lived with you, sharing all the highs and lows.

‘This decision has not been easy, but it seems that now is the right time for a change.

‘I made this decision with my children in mind (especially Sunday, who has been on this journey with me). They are my absolute priority and Sunday is now at an age where she is an independent little person and I want her to make her own way.

“I am eternally grateful to every single person who watched the show, supported us, and was there throughout the entire process. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

The admission comes after former co-star Billie and her husband Greg reportedly quit their own ITV show, The Family Diaries, after six seasons.

The couple, who regularly share intimate details of their family life on their hit show, left the series to “let their children grow up away from the cameras.”

Billie, 34, and Greg, 39, who share three children – Nelly, 10, Arthur, seven, and Margot, 21 months – have grown up watching reality TV since they were born.

Their eldest daughter, Nelly, made her television debut on The Only Way Is Essex in 2014 when she was weeks old.

McCann shared a handful of behind-the-scenes photos and videos as she confirmed the news with her Instagram followers on Sunday.

Like Nelly, Arthur first appeared on screens shortly after being born when Billie and her sister Sam had their joint series The Mummy Diaries.

A source said The sun‘Billie loved her time on the show and had a lot of fun, but she thinks it’s time to let her kids grow up away from the cameras for a while.

‘She loves the memories she has created and will cherish them forever, she is very grateful to the production company but is excited to explore new options with ITV.

“There is no bad blood and the sky is the limit.”

An ITV spokesperson said: ‘We are currently in production on a new series of The Family Diaries which will air on ITVX and ITVBe later this year and are in talks with Billie about projects for 2025.’

MailOnline has contacted Shepherd’s representatives for comment.

The couple, who regularly share intimate details of their family life on their hit show, left the series to “let their children grow up away from the cameras.”

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline in May, Billie and Greg shared how they manage to keep their children grounded after growing up in the spotlight.

Billie said: ‘Obviously for us, you know, we’ve always filmed and the kids have always filmed. They don’t really know much else.

‘I think unless there’s something like a concern, like, you know, if Nelly comes to me and tells me something that’s bothering her.

“Obviously, the kids are always our number one priority when it comes to their happiness, but I think we’re pretty good at keeping them grounded.”

He added: “AndHey, they are kids after all, I think, you know, Nelly is such a fun and happy character, so nice.

“She’s always been used to being surrounded by a lot of people and I think that will only be positive for her and her future.”

“I always thought about that: ‘Would they treat her differently? Or would she face something?’ But honestly, we haven’t had any of that.

‘We haven’t had any problems at school or anything like that. We would know straight away, because Nelly tells us everything. She’s very open with us. And we’ve been lucky not to experience anything like that.’
