A teacher who had sex with her 18-year-old former student a year after leaving school has been banned from classrooms for three years.
Jessica Forgione, who was 25 when she kissed the boy for the first time on his 18th birthday, taught him English at a public secondary school in Western Australia between 2020 and 2021, when he was in Year 10 and Year 11. Western Australia reported.
The relationship began through Facebook Messenger and text messages, in which Forgione discussed the problems of his relationship with his partner, according to a State Administrative Court.

She was invited to the boy’s birthday party and played a drinking game after asking her vice principal for permission to attend.
They told him he could go to the party as long as he didn’t drink or take photos that could end up on social media.
Mrs. Forgione couldn’t get an Uber home at 1 a.m., so she spent the night in the guest room, wearing one of his shirts as pajamas.
He then joined her in the bedroom after exchanging Snapchat messages and eventually kissed her. The teen’s girlfriend had passed out in another room at the time.
The teacher then broke up with her partner and the following month had sex with the teenager three times at her home over a two-week period starting on August 8, 2022.
The teenager broke up with his girlfriend after the first time he slept with Mrs Forgione.
The girlfriend, who was on a sports team coached by Mrs. Forgione, approached the teacher for advice on how to deal with the breakup.
She told him to try to move on and find a new relationship.
The boy then told his parents about the relationship with Mrs. Forgione on August 20.
The teenager was not a student of Ms Forgione during the relationship and had left university to pursue an apprenticeship.
However, he remained “a student of the Department of Education” until he turned 18, something Ms. Forgione claimed not to know.
Ms Forgione was suspended with pay in April 2023 and had let her teaching record run out, causing her job to end in August last year.
She was disqualified from teaching for three years.
