A father of two feared that he would become a quadriplegic after being left with a broken neck and skull after an unprovoked attack behind an alley.
The Perth electrician, Ian, who asked to remember his last name, was with a friend outside of Northbridge's Holey Moley mini golf bar just before 2 pm on May 19.
The 36-year-old tried to look for a toilet before being confronted with a stranger and then beaten unconscious, after which he bled profusely from a large cut on his head.
In a hair-raising twist, detectives revealed that the only security camera facing the area where Ian was found had been disconnected before the attack.

Ian suffered a broken neck, a broken skull and a cut artery. He also lost the feeling in his arm and had to undergo invasive neck surgery to prevent damage to his spinal cord, 9News reported.
The 36-year-old, now in a neck brace, says he can't look at his daughter when she sits next to him and can't pick her up.
Ian's friend found him five minutes after the couple got divorced.
But when Ian woke up in pain and almost paralyzed, he couldn't remember what had happened.

& # 39; I remember standing next to the person, the next thing I remember is trying to get up, I was knocked out. & # 39;
The police are looking for his attacker described as a tall man with tanned skin, wearing a yellow and red shirt with dark pants.
