Farmer Wants A Wife's Bert Harris responded to shock claims that

Each season, Channel Seven dating series Farmer Wants A Wife is rocked by controversy that some of the farmers are not “real”.

And this year, it’s Bert Harris, a Queensland-based Wamuran pineapple grower, who has found himself in the middle of the controversy.

Several fans believe that Bert is simply “a grower.”

‘To me, a farmer has sheep, cows, [and] wheat,” one fan wrote in a Facebook video about Bert.

‘Work from dawn to dusk, shearing, herding, branding sheep, soaking, plowing, harvesting. Thousands of acres…that’s my farmer, not someone who grows pineapples,” he wrote a second.

Farmer Wants A Wife’s Bert Harris has responded to shock claims that he is “not a real farmer” despite owning a pineapple farm in Wamuran, Queensland.

“Do any of these guys really have a farm in their name?” asked a third.

‘So, everyone owns a farm this year, right? Guess we’ll find out soon,” wrote one skeptical fan. ‘So does he own the farm or just work on it?’ asked another.

However, Bert and fellow contestant Dustin Manwaring responded to the claims in a fun chat with Yahoo Lifestyle.

The duo jokingly dismissed the claims, with Dustin mocking Bert for not being a “real farmer” due to his choice of crop.

“Apparently I’m not a real farmer,” Bert added, and Dustin joked, “Actually, you’re not!”

“I guess a pineapple farmer isn’t a farmer,” Bert jokingly replied.

“Yeah, that doesn’t count as a farm.”

‘You have to have sheep, cows and tractors. Do you have tractors?’ Dustin asked, as Bert said that he, in fact, had tractors.

“But no, you don’t count,” Dustin added, laughing.

Bert then joked that he’s not a real farmer because they haven’t seen him at the local bakery.

“At the local bakery, someone said I wasn’t a real farmer because they had never seen me in the bakery before,” Bert says with a smile.

‘So I can’t tell if they just don’t have good meat pies or if I’m just not a farmer!’
