Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has weighed in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent solo appearances, defending the couple’s independent approach and addressing speculation about a professional split. Speaking on GB News, Fitzwilliams acknowledged the ongoing rumors, but emphasized that the couple is simply exploring new strategies for their public endeavors.
“I think they realized that they had done a lot of solo events, they knew there would be speculation about a breakup.” Fitzwilliams declared. “I don’t see that being the reason for it. I think they are trying something new. “I think it has been quite successful.” He highlighted the importance of his ability to diversify his individual endeavors while maintaining his collective brand, which he believes has been effective.
Despite the couple’s success with this new approach, Fitzwilliams noted that the expiration of their contract with Netflix next year is creating some pressure. The deal, reportedly valued at $100 million, has been a major part of their financial and professional portfolio since they stepped down from royal duties.
“They are very nervous because the Netflix contract ends next year because that ties them to the $100 million that was paid.” reportedly I paid for it,” Fitzwilliams shared. “So, very clearly, it is a period for them in which Meghan has to launch her American Riviera Orchard, which is not proving easy. He has his cooking show for Netflix.”
He also mentioned the couple’s other projects, including Harry’s polo series, which has been credited to them both on Netflix. While Fitzwilliams expressed some skepticism about the series’ potential appeal, he acknowledged that it could still find an audience, regardless of its runaway success.
“We’ll have to see what that’s like, in fact, he has his polo series, credited to both of them on Netflix. I don’t see that having much appeal, good or not,” the royal commentator said before concluding his comments.
The Sussexes’ solo appearances and various business projects demonstrate their continued adaptation to life outside the royal family, with new opportunities and challenges ahead as they navigate their future projects.
