EXCLUSIVE: ‘He’s the black Tom Ford!’ RHONY star Ubah Hassan gushes over sexy and sophisticated LaQuan Smith collection at New York Fashion Week

“After leaving LaQuan Smith’s show, I feel like I can rule the world.” Real Housewives of New York star Ubah Hassan told the Daily Mail.

The 5′ 11″ Somali-Canadian model, businesswoman and television personality felt so empowered by the electrifying runway presentation held at the gorgeous Cipriani salon in lower Manhattan that she compared the collection to Tom Ford.

“He was sophisticated, beautiful, glamorous, sexy, kind, kind, but don’t play with me,” she said.

The 5′ 11″ Somali-Canadian model, entrepreneur and television personality felt so empowered by the runway presentation held at Cipriani that she compared the collection to that of iconic designer Tom Ford.

“I don’t know if Tom Ford is someone he studied with, but there’s no one bigger than LaQuan Smith.

Smith was actually taught pattern making and sewing by his grandmother, and he credits the late, great Andre Leon Talley as his mentor.

“The show was very sexy,” said Ubah wearing a custom-made two-piece outfit that showed off her impressive figure.

‘This is what power looks like. Every woman should aspire to dress, walk, talk, look and feel like they stepped out of the LaQuan show.

“I’m absolutely happy for him and for this collection, and I’m probably going to waste all my rent money buying everything in that collection.

“He’s the black Tom Ford,” Ubah said.

“I told the models to bring this energy to their career, to everything they do in life,” Ubah shared.

“Every little piece, from how they walked to Baby Face, that’s how you put together a show,” Ubah told the Daily Mail.

Baby Face performed several songs during the show’s finale.

‘This season my wife is busy and is the center of attention. “She runs from the office to her evening plans in satin minidresses, metallic knit dresses and cocktail outfits in ice cream,” said LaQuan Smith.

LaQuan’s show notes say:

‘The Fall/Winter 2024 collection is an ode to the mermaids in my office. I was inspired by the unapologetic strength and glamor of influential women; from 80s Wall Street executives to Studio 54 bitches.

‘This season was an exploration of daywear done in the LaQuan Smith style. Provocative suits in rich hues such as navy blue, which is a symbol of financial stability, cotton poplin jumpsuits that transition seamlessly from day to night, and coats elegantly crafted in sumptuous wools.

‘This season my wife is busy and is the center of attention. She rushes from the office to her evening plans in satin minidresses, metallic knit dresses, and frosted cocktail outfits.

“She has places to go and will look great doing it all.”
