Several social media users reacted in unison to Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis’ pole vault performance on his way to gold at the Paris Olympics.
On Monday, Duplantis impressively leapt 6.25m to break the world record and secure gold at the games.
However, instead of celebrating the feat, some users compared the Swedish athlete to Frenchman Anthony Ammirati, but not in terms of athletic prowess. The Frenchman went viral after his manhood hit the bar and left him in 12th place.
As Ammirati’s accident gained so much virality, the story greatly influenced the response to Duplantis’ victory.
“That means he got a little (eggplant emoji), right?” one user wrote.

Anthony Ammirati failed to qualify for the men’s pole vault after his manhood hit the bar.
“It’s always easier when you have a smaller pp,” said another.
“He must be very small,” commented a third.
“So… you’re saying you DON’T have to hit your penis on the bar when you come down? THEN WHAT’S THE POINT?” a fourth joked.
Duplantis, however, enjoyed his victory in front of a huge crowd in Paris.
When all the other events had already been completed and 80,000 fans were creating a deafening atmosphere in Paris, she cleared 6.25 m on the third and final attempt.
The Louisiana-born Swedish-American broke Thiago Braz’s Olympic record of 6.03m from Rio 2016 before facing her own world record of 6.24 m, set in April.

“I haven’t been able to process how fantastic that moment was,” she said later. “It’s one of those things that doesn’t feel real, an out-of-body experience.”
He added: ‘My biggest dream since I was a child was to break the world record at the Olympics.
“And I was able to do it in front of the most ridiculous crowd I’ve ever competed in front of.
“I felt really prepared. I’ve never been so cooped up in my life as I have been these past three months. Now I’m ready to eat a lot of food. The party is going to be pretty big.”
