England produced another dismal performance in a goalless draw against Slovenia on Tuesday night.

It was still enough to secure top spot in Group C, ensuring the Three Lions will be on what appears to be the more favorable side of the draw, but they have plenty to work on ahead of the knockout stages.

Gareth Southgate’s men scored just two goals in their three group games and failed to create many clear-cut chances in Cologne against a stubborn Slovenian team.

It’s been a familiar pattern throughout the group stages, and the stats don’t make for pleasant reading for England fans, with the team having won just two of their last eight matches.

Bellingham disappears again

It was another quiet night for Jude Bellingham, missing since scoring the winning goal in England’s first group game.

Harry Kane (32) was the only England outfield player to play the full 90 minutes and had fewer touches than Bellingham (69) on Tuesday night.

Zero shots, chances created, tackles, completed crosses or goals on Tuesday night for Bellingham, who also lost possession 15 times.

The striker also failed to take a shot in England’s previous Group C match against Denmark.

On the opposite flank, Phil Foden only managed to beat his man once before being substituted.

But it’s not all doom and gloom…

England have reached the knockout stages of the last five major tournaments; he had never managed more than two in a row until this run, while Gareth Southgate (four) has reached the knockout stages in twice as many tournaments as any other England manager (Hodgson, Eriksson, Robson, Ramsey, Winterbottom, all two).

England completed a fourth successive Euro 2004 group stage unbeaten run, stretching back to a 2-1 defeat to France at Euro 2004. Iceland are the only team to have beaten England inside 90 minutes at a European Championship in the past 20 years.
