A driver who allegedly crashed his car before stabbing someone in Sydney’s south stabbed his passenger, a good Samaritan and a police officer before killing himself, witnesses say.
Emergency services were called to Old Bush Road, near the Princess Highway, in Engadine, at around 9.15am on Sunday following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.
A witness told Daily Mail Australia that the alleged attacker, 55, was entering the Princes Highway in a white sedan when he was hit by a blue car.
He said a passerby ran to the white car to help and discovered the 40-year-old female passenger had been stabbed.
The driver of the white vehicle then allegedly stabbed the good Samaritan.
“He (the alleged attacker) was ranting and then the police went to arrest him and they were yelling ‘get out on the street’ and he was trying to self-harm and was cutting his wrists and throat,” the witness said.
‘They then chased him to my house and tried to revive him.
“He looked really bad. He was losing a lot of blood.”

Cronulla Sharks chairman Steve Mace was on his way to a football match on Sunday when he witnessed the car crash.
Concerned for the occupants, he jumped out of his vehicle and ran to the white sedan to help.
“I heard the guy screaming in the car and then I heard his partner scream even louder. I tried to open the door and finally forced it open,” he said. The Telegraph newspaper.
Mace said the alleged knife-wielding attacker was ranting at his passenger, saying “she changed the radio station.”
Witnesses reported seeing the white car traveling at high speed in the area before the accident.
The alleged attacker, aged 55, was treated by paramedics on the scene and has been detained ever since.
The 40-year-old woman was rushed to St George’s Hospital suffering from multiple injuries.

The good Samaritan was taken to Liverpool Hospital. He is understood to have suffered a stab wound to the abdomen.
The police officer is receiving treatment after suffering a severe laceration to his wrist during the arrest.
A witness told Daily Mail Australia he initially believed the stabbing and car crash were two separate incidents because they occurred in two locations about 200 metres apart.
He said he saw a blue and white car involved in a crash on the Princes Highway before another man was arrested near a black Hyundai further up the road.
“The accident happened at the traffic light and there was a man there ranting and raving for about 20 minutes,” he said.
‘Then the medics and the police arrived. The next minute, they rushed to a black Hyundai that was 200 metres from the road and arrested a man who was near the car.

Police are investigating the incident in which several passengers were taken to hospital with stab wounds (pictured: the wrecked blue Mitsubishi sedan).
‘It seemed to me that they were already following him, because the police were nearby. I thought they must have had a warrant for his arrest.
‘I was wearing a white shirt and then (moments later) it was all red.’
Police used a Taser to assist in the arrest of the suspected knife-wielding attacker.
The incident caused traffic chaos as police were inundated with triple-0 calls from horrified passers-by, who described seeing “blood everywhere”.
The Mitsubishi was seen mangled on the road after the horrific crash with debris from the vehicle scattered for several metres at the intersection.
The white sedan was also severely damaged after the vehicle mounted the curb at the nearby crosswalk.
Paramedics worked quickly to help injured passengers and fire and rescue crews were also dispatched to the scene.

Motorists have been urged to avoid the area. Police are investigating the incident.
