‘Elemental,’ a Pixar Film, Set to Debut at Cannes Film Festival

Disney and Pixar Elementary — the animated photo is inspired by director Peter Sohn’s youth in New York, and the basic elements — fire, water, land and air — premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

The animated film will be out of competition before hitting theaters on June 16 in the US and June 21 in France. Elementary is then the fourth feature film from Pixar Animation Studios to be screened at Cannes Upwards, Inside out And Soul.

Sohn, producer Denise Ream and members of the voice cast walk the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals on May 27 to debut Elementary. The Pixar photo travels with an unlikely couple, Ember and Wade, in a city where inhabitants of fire, water, land and air live together.

The fiery young woman and the go-with-the-flow man are about to discover something elementary: how much they actually have in common. Sohn directed The good dinosaur in 2015 for Pixar and the Partly cloudy short.

Elemental features a French voice cast including Adèle Exarchopoulos, Vincent Lacoste, Gabriel Le Doze, Coco Noël, Céline Monsarrat and Michel Dodane. The original English voice cast is led by Leah Lewis, Mamoudou Athie, Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Catherine O’Hara, Mason Wertheimer and Joe Pera.
