An own goal deprived third division soccer team MSV Duisburg of the hoped-for liberation in the fight for relegation.
Due to Sebastian Mai’s goal in the wrong goal to make it 2-2 (2-2) in the west duel at Viktoria Köln, the Meiderichers have been without a win for six games after bumpy preparation and are still within sight of several rivals in the relegation zone. Cologne strengthened its place in the top half of the table with the draw.
Marlon Frey (4th) and Marvin Knoll (17th) supposedly put the former runners-up on the road to victory in the early stages. Shortly after Cologne’s goal by Robin Meißner (30th), however, Mai aimed in the wrong direction.
After the break, the guests did not manage to score another goal in the final phase, despite being outnumbered after a red card for Moritz Fritz (84th, emergency brake), just like the hosts.
The kick-off for the match had to be postponed by ten minutes due to problems with the MSV convoy. After a short drive, the zebra train arrived in the cathedral city with a delay.
