Dozens of people were hospitalized after they fell several meters when the floor of an apartment building collapsed during a party near Clemson University in South Carolina.

A large part of the floor gave way in the early hours of Sunday morning when the large crowd of partygoers danced at the Woodlands of Clemson apartment complex.

Shocking images taken from inside the party showed people jumping while dancing just as the floor collapsed.

The crowd was swallowed as they fell from the first floor to the basement.

A large part of the floor gave way in the early hours of Sunday morning when the large crowd of partygoers danced at the Woodlands of Clemson apartment complex in South Carolina.

You could hear people shouting as they tried to break through to get out of the puddle of injured bodies.

You could see the stunned party goers looking down on the huge, huge hole.

Authorities said 30 people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The incident occurred on the first floor of the clubhouse: a common area within the apartment complex just three miles from Clemson University.

The area had been rented for a private party.

Raven Guerra, a 20-year-old who was at the party, told GMA: "By the time I put a foot out the door, I felt something was weird and that's when everyone collapsed and the guy behind of me disappeared.
